Move over Angelina Jolie, there’s a beautiful new butt-kicking action star in Hollywood. MMA champion Gina Carano is destined to cause jaws to drop and heads to roll as a secret service op seeking revenge on her betrayers in Steven Soderbergh’s much-buzzed action thriller, “Haywire,” slated for release in January 2012.
Carano is part of a start-studded cast of Hollywood veterans including Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas, but her co-star Channing Tatum insisted that the young female fighter is ultimately what makes the film.
“You are going to get some really satisfying girl on dude whoop-ass, just straight up whoop-ass. In our society we’re used to seeing guys beat up other dudes but this is so satisfying for me to see just a beautiful woman beat the s**t out of many so guys,” Tatum told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column at the Comic-Con International Convention over the weekend. “The way she holds her body is very much like a dancer, when you’re fighting it comes down to inches, bad things happen if you miss even by just an inch. There is one sequence where I have to pick her up off the counter and essentially slam her onto the ground and there only an inch of mistake area if I push down too hard… she tenses up and grabs me for one half a second so she doesn’t crack her head on the ground. But we did it perfectly every time.”
