The fiery redhead from The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and Defiance actor are in talks to join what is shaping up to be an all-star cast including Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron.
Snow White and the Huntsman will feature Kristen Stewart as the ax-wielding exiled princess with Charlize Theron as the antagonistic Evil Queen; Chris Hemsworth has also taken on the role of the Hunstman. Rupert Sanders will be directing the Joe Roth produced film which is scheduled for theatrical release on June 1st, 2012.
In this updated version of the classic, the filmmakers are going against the established dwarf names established in the Disney compendium with those inspired by ancient Roman Emperors. Ian McShane has already been announced at the group's leader Caesar, Toby Jones will take on the role of the timid Claudius, Bob Hoskins will play the blind Constantine, and Eddie Izzard will portray the burly Tiberius. Ray Winstone, Eddie Marsan (as twins Trajan and Hadrian), and Stephen Graham (who is set for the grumpy dwarf Nero) are looking to round out the seven.
There is no word as to what roles Cole and Spruell are up for.
Recently a detailed plot synopsis for the film was leaked, though the studio has yet to confim it's validity: Snow White, an 18-year-old princess who is only friends with animals, is getting more beautiful by the day as her step-mother, the Evil Queen Ravenna gets more and more jealous. When Ravenna tries to kill Snow White, she escapes with the help of a hunstman named Eric who is trying to get revenge on the Queen. Eric is very gruff but teaches Snow White how to fend for herself against the evil creatures of the forest. When she eats a poisonous apple, her childhood sweetheart Prince Charmant must kiss her in order to unfreeze her lips and give her the potion to heal her. She thinks she’s in love with Eric, but he assures her Prince Charmant is her one true love.
